Update: So I managed to point the Plex client on my TV to the IP address assigned to my laptop that hosts the media server and so far it is working.

The better fix to this issue would be for Plex to come up with a way to determine if the Sonos device is on the same network as the Plex server and provide the server's internal IP address instead of the WAN address.
