I have the 50 inch version and the only workaround that works for me is accessing iplayer by pressing the green button while watching a live BBC channel.
@Paul_VICT BBC iPlayer support got back to me to recommend that I don't use the IOS app since there are known problems with audio description. I should use the browser instead. So I sign in using Safari and it automatically launches the iPlayer app
